As an interpretation of Peruvian dishes with a modern touch of the menu’s designer, this restaurant with nice decoration and ambiance, good service and an interesting selection of wines, is a good option in the ocean of Peruvian restaurants in the Zona T area. Recommended.
La Cocina de Thaair
Tahaair is a Lebanese who lived in Italy for a while, enough to learn the secrets of Italian cuisine and bring those flavors to Colombia where he married to a really welcoming woman, Nidia. He serves delicious Mediterranean food and Arab delicacies from his roots, and even though the location of the place is not near the fancy streets of some well known neighborhoods in Chapinero and Zona T, it is worth “traveling “ to La Calera and before the toll of Patios, enjoy this homelike place.
Sorella
if you really enjoy Mediterranean food, at a really reasonable price and nice environment, this is a place to visit. Sorella belong s to the same owners of other spectacular restaurants in the city and you can expect the best tomato sauce in their cooking, fresh and tasty cheese and some of the best tiramisu and key lime pie in Bogotá. Not exaggerating.
Calle Dragones
This is an amazing place, combining good food, live music and hot rumba after 23:00, it’s a must in Bogota but you should take real care of how you order. Let me clarify. I do not see prices in restaurants, as normally you know what to expect based on the food you order and the wine or liquors to combine, so it’s quite rare to be surprised by the check. Calle Dragones not only surprise me but sadly disappointed me also as the prices are ridiculous in food and liquor, specially the latter. A bottle of Monster Gyn, a really good one, costs COP 560.000!!!, when in a supermarket you can find it for COP 140000. I felt really bothered and even though I will visit again, I won’t be alone and carefully and with great distrust verify the prices in the menu.
El Butcher
it’s difficult to rate a restaurant that sells itself as a steakhouse, even more as an Argentinian one. This restaurant, sadly, despite its warm and kind service, is faraway from a decent Argentinian steakhouse. If you expect meat to te juicy, soft and full of flavor, not the place. The so called Butcher plate, a mix of meat with pork ribs, sausage, black sausage, lacks of tenderness and the ribs are like dressed with artificial barbecue sauce. The rib-eye is even more disappointing, as it was dry and “with strong” muscle fibers. In the end, if you love barbecue, do not hesitate to do it by yourself, I can assure a better outcome.
Brot (Chico)
A really good bakery in El Retiro neighborhood, is a mandatory place to buy bread to bring home for dinner or next day breakfast. Nice ambiance and a place to get together with friends in the area in the afternoon.
Brooklyn Deli
A delicious place to try a typical roast beef or pork belly sandwich at a reasonable price and a nice ambiance. Location is right for neighbors, be prepared to get by walking as no parking space is easily available.
D`amici
You can make your own pizza at a cheap price and enjoy it in a very casual young ambiance. Pasta and salads also available. May not be the best pizza in town, as it depends on you how to assemble. Great for youngsters.
Cuarto Frío
When I entered to this place I had the feeling that this restaurant was inspired by "Sala de Despiese" in Madrid in terms of ambiance and format, a fact which is not a pro or con itself, but once I tried the food I could see that this is a really different experience. This is not a Spanish restaurant but an international food one that takes advantage of local products such as Colombia artichoke, palm hearts (palmitos), shrimps and fish. The food is tasty, original and with a good presentation. Desserts are really outstanding, so do not forget it when ordering the main course. I believe this restaurant is now a must in Bogotá, although some prices could be a little higher, especially the ribeye (COP 138.000¡) for Bogota's standards.
Brasas Llaneras
I visited the branch located in Chapinero and was surprised to find this sort of restaurant in the north of the city, as this kind is usual in more popular neighborhoods. The taste and flavor of the beef is amazing and the best representation in Bogota of the Colombian eastern planes (llanos orientales) food. Totally worth visiting to try typical Colombian food in a relaxed ambiance.
